Monye to retire at end of season

Harlequins and England winger Ugo Monye is to retire at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old progressed through the youth set-up with Quins and has won 14 caps for England, as well as playing for the British & Irish Lions.

Monye has made more than 230 appearances for Harlequins, winning the Premiership in 2012, two European trophies and also helping the club win the LV= Cup in 2013.

“I can honestly say that the one thing I am most proud of is that I have been a one-club man, in a game that is ever changing,” Monye said.

“To play for the club I supported as a boy and to achieve my childhood dream of following in the footsteps of some of the sport’s greatest players like Jason Leonard, Will Greenwood and Zinzan Brooke and to wear the Harlequins jersey has been amazing.”
