‘Game-changer’ Care pens new Harlequins contract

Danny Care scored a first-half try.

Captain Danny Care has become the latest player to commit his long-term future to Harlequins by signing a deal.

The length of the contract has not been disclosed, but Care, 28, follows Chris Robshaw and Mike Brown in extending his stay.

The England scrum-half joined Quins in 2006 from Leeds and has since made more than 180 appearances for the club, scoring more than 50 tries.

He played an integral role in Harlequins’ Challenge Cup win in 2011 and the Premiership title in 2012, and succeeded Robshaw as skipper ahead of this season.

Care said: “Harlequins is a club that I love. I’m very proud and honored to play for and captain the team.

“I’m part of a great group of people and I’m really excited to have pledged my commitment to the club for the next few years.”

Quins director of rugby Conor O’Shea added: “Danny is the ultimate game changer and has matured and grown in front of us all.

“In Danny, we see the Harlequins style stamped all over the way he approaches the game.

“In my opinion, with the skillset he possesses, he should go on to win 100 caps for England and win more silverware for the club.”
