Redknapp: Zamora’s condition is so bad he can’t sit down at half-time

Harry Redknapp says Bobby Zamora’s hip condition is so acute the QPR striker cannot sit down at half-time during games.

The Rangers boss, who also says Zamora suffered ligament damage when he recently picked up an ankle injury, believes he is a crucial player in the battle to stay up.

Redknapp said: “Bobby needs a hip operation and has torn an ankle ligament but has played through it.

“At half-time we have to keep him on the move. If he sits down it will seize up.

“He can’t get into his car after the game. It’s a nightmare for him trying to get in.”

Zamora played 72 minutes of Saturday’s 3-1 win against Sunderland – a result which maintained Rangers’ fighting chance of avoiding the drop.

And Redknapp is desperate for the former West Ham man to get through the all-important run-in to the season.

“He’s a proper bloke. You want him in your squad,” Redknapp declared.

“He’s good for the team, talks to the boys and is an influence in the dressing room – and you need characters like that.”
