Washington back as QPR draw at Wycombe

QPR striker Conor Washington

Conor Washington made his first appearance of QPR’s pre-season campaign as they drew 0-0 at Wycombe.

Washington, who was given an extended break following his involvement with Northern Ireland at the European Championship, came on as a half-time substitute against Gareth Ainsworth’s side.

He was quickly in the thick of the action, firing wide of the near post.

Earlier, Nasser El Khayati’s shot was cleared off the line by former QPR defender Michael Harriman.

Another former Rangers player, Marcus Bean, went close to scoring in the second half.

And El Khayati almost opened the scoring in spectacular fashion when his 60-yard effort flew narrowly over.

Recent arrival Jordan Cousins started for the R’s but went off on the hour mark after picking up an injury.

Rangers’ three other summer signings were not involved.

Ariel Borysiuk has been sidelined by an ankle problem, but Joel Lynch and Jake Bidwell have returned to full training following minor injuries and are expected to feature in a friendly at Burton on Tuesday.
