Transfer gossip: Fer linked with move, agent on Mikel’s future

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving the area’s clubs…

QPR midfielder Leroy Fer has been linked with a return to his former club Feyenoord.

The Dutch media, which in recent months has tipped Rangers to sign a number of players not on the club’s radar and has linked Fer with various other sides, say he could rejoin Feyenoord on loan.

It is claimed that the Eredivisie club might look to Fer if they sell Tonny Vilhena when the transfer window reopens in January.

Rangers are keen to get Fer off their wage bill and would welcome a loan deal – they held talks with PSV Eindhoven during the final stages of the summer transfer window but were unable to reach an agreement.

Before that, Fer agreed a season-long loan move to Sunderland but an ongoing knee problem meant he failed a medical.

Meanwhile, John Mikel Obi’s agent John Shittu has indicated that he is unsure whether the midfielder will stay at Chelsea, where his first-team chances have again been limited.

“The player had offers to move at the beginning of the season,” Nigerian media quoted Shittu as saying.

“Chelsea refused to sell because they probably had him in their plans. Now we have to wait and see what happens.”
