Ian Holloway bemoaned the defensive lapses which led to QPR’s defeat against Middlesbrough.

Rangers were beaten 3-0 at Loftus Road, where Daniel Ayala headed in unmarked and George Friend was given time and space before blasting home from long range.

Adama Traore sealed Boro’s win with a late third.

“In the first 15 minutes we were causing them all sorts of trouble and I can assure you that (Boro boss) Tony Pulis, who’s a friend of mine, wasn’t too happy,” Rangers boss Holloway said.

“But unfortunately we got undone by a corner, which they’re brilliant at and we’re normally good at.

“We lost a flick at the near post and then Ayala is standing there and heads it in. It’s a mountain to climb after that.

“That gave them a lift, they started popping it around, and when George Friend gets it 25 yards out and he shoots and it goes straight in my net, I’m fuming.

“Someone should have been there taking it in the ‘bread basket’ or other areas you don’t really want to speak about, or on the thigh, and block it, which we normally do.

“Then Tony can do what he’s very good at, which is to give you no space, and they can then cruise.”

Meanwhile, Holloway revealed that David Wheeler must have an ankle operation.

  • its sounding more and more like the same old weak excuses every time they get spanked now , which this season is every other week , we should have , we could have , but we didnt , but we played well??
When is this club at last going to get a manager who can really motivate his players , as this one ran out of ideas way back , hes lost the plot really and all they will ever do under his watch is be a struggling championship team , i would say if its not this season then the next if hes still there they will looking at division 1 football , hes just had a very good crack at it and hes showing want now , time for a change if ever there was one!!
Better managers haqve gone for far less..............

  • Same old rubbish from IH,excuses, when the truth is he was hoping for another fluke because he obviously had no plan,no idea which team to pick and no answer to going 2 down complete and utter waste of space, get rid,and get a real manager in.

  • First Boro goal we left 2 up and they left only 2 fully back. To my mind we were taking a risk we don’t normally which IH must have set up. Body language of players from the outset is worrying. No visible extra vocal support / guidance to young players by experienced ones. I continue to see players trot over there IH for every detail. Players just hit the ball at the goal rather than shoot expecting to score . If they shoot.
