Sidelined Mackie must have hamstring surgery

Jamie Mackie must have surgery to repair the hamstring injury that has ended the QPR forward’s season prematurely.

Mackie, 30, was sidelined for more than three months with a hamstring problem earlier in the campaign and was injured again during Rangers’ recent draw at Leeds.

He went off midway through the second half of the game at Elland Road, and after scans initially had to be delayed because of the amount of swelling around his hamstring, the club’s fears have now been confirmed.

Mackie has made just six league starts since returning to QPR last summer for a second spell at the club.
