Redknapp set for transfer talks with Spurs

QPR boss Harry Redknapp is set to hold talks with Tottenham to establish who his former club are willing to part with.

He plans to contact Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who sacked him last June, about the possible availability of a number of players.

Midfielder Jake Livermore, 23, is of interest and it is believed Tottenham are open to offers for the England international.

Redknapp also likes full-backs Danny Rose, 22, and Adam Smith, 21, currently on loan at Sunderland and Millwall respectively, but is not keen on loan signings.

Rose is on a season-long deal at the Stadium of Light but Spurs have an option to recall him this month, while Smith is due to return to north London soon.

But Rangers have abandoned any hope of signing Michael Dawson, who rejected a move to Loftus Road in the summer.

Mark Hughes hoped he would be persuaded to join further down the line and the club subsequently believed the arrival of Redknapp as the Welshman’s successor would boost their chances of attracting Dawson.

However, the defender has had a significant role under Andre Villas-Boas, who may be happy to offload other players.

QPR waiting to discover who Spurs will make available is nothing new.

Ironically, when Redknapp – a friend of former R’s chairman Gianni Paladini – was in charge at White Hart Lane, Rangers’ transfer-window plans frequently hinged on which players he was prepared to let them have.

They were given Adel Taarabt and Kyle Walker and believed they were close to getting numerous other members of Redknapp’s Spurs squad.
