Redknapp rues Fer miss after QPR defeat

QPR boss Harry Redknapp was left to rue a first-half miss by Leroy Fer following the 2-0 defeat at Swansea.

Rangers are one off the bottom of the table and have lost all eight of their away games this season, with seven of those defeats coming in the league.

They were within sight of their first away point before two late goals from the Swans – after Fer had earlier seen a header saved after the Dutchman had been set up by Niko Kranjcar.

Redknapp said: “We had a good chance in the first half with Fer. When you get those chances away from home, if you can stick one away it changes everything. It was a really good opportunity.

“Then in the second half we had one or two opportunities but they did too – Rob Green was in great form tonight.

“When you’ve got 15 minutes to go you think ‘We’ve got a chance now’. At 0-0 you’re bang in the game and feel we might nick one. But it wasn’t to be.”

Rangers have been hugely reliant on their home form and will face another crucial game at Loftus Road when Burnley visit on Saturday.

“That’s a massive game – a six-pointer just like the one against Leicester was,” Redknapp admitted.
