Rangers put their faith in ‘angel’ Morrison

Ravel Morrison could turn out to be QPR’s hero in the play-offs, according to skipper Clint Hill.

Level at 0-0 from the first leg, Rangers will tonight battle it out with Wigan at a sold-out Loftus Road for the right to face Derby at Wembley for a place in the Premier League.

And Hill, a key member of the Adel Taarabt-inspired QPR side which won promotion in 2011, believes Morrison is capable of making the decisive difference.

Morrison’s attitude had previously been questioned but he has made a major impact and scored six goals for Rangers since arriving on loan from West Ham in February.

“I was expecting some mad Tasmanian devil from the way everyone was talking about him, but he’s been an absolute angel to be honest,” said Hill.

“He’s trained, he’s not caused any problems, and he’s been very good on the pitch.

“He’s our second top goalscorer and there’s no doubt he’s a player who can change a game in an instant – similar to Adel in that he might find the top corner or do something outrageous.

“He could have a big part in the next games, definitely. Sometimes it’s like the ball’s glued to his feet, and the way he just glides past players is natural.

“If he wants to be the best player in the world, he could be the best player in the world. It’s all up to him.

“It’s those players you just might need when it’s tight and compact. You might need that special player to break a defence.”

Rangers fans are hoping for a repeat of the famous play-off victory against Oldham in 2003, when Paul Furlong netted a late winner.

Furlong and his former R’s team-mate Kevin Gallen have been asked to address the home crowd before tonight’s game, no doubt adding to what is sure to be a feverish atmosphere.

And Hill, who was in the Oldham side that night 11 years ago, declared: “It’s all about seizing the moment and making sure you have no regrets.

“Give it everything you can out on the pitch and make sure you don’t leave anything.

“There are no second chances. This is it. You’ve got to do it now.”
