Ramsey hails ‘fantastic’ defensive duo after QPR triumph

Chris Ramsey insisted centre-backs Nedum Onuoha and Grant Hall deserved their share of the acclaim after QPR’s superb victory at Wolves.

Matt Phillips scored twice, inspiring a comeback along with Charlie Austin as Rangers recovered from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Molineux.

Head coach Ramsey was delighted with the contribution of his star duo amid speculation that they could leave Rangers ahead of the transfer window closing.

But he was equally pleased with his central defenders – particularly summer signing Hall, who made his full league debut for the club.

Ramsey said: “People do their jobs. Nedum Onuoha was fantastic tonight.

“Grant Hall has come in for his first start and you wouldn’t believe he’s just a youngster coming in and playing against probably two of the best forwards in the league. He was fantastic.

“I was pleased with all the team. Those two [Phillips and Austin] have been very professional considering there’s been speculation over their futures. They’ve trained hard and stuck to the gameplan as much as the other boys.

“The boys were very resilient and stuck to what we’d spoken about.”

There was praise too for fans favourite Alejandro Faurlin, who returned to the starting line-up having battled his way back from a third cruciate injury in as many years.

“I’m really pleased for him,” Ramsey said.

“Ale is someone that people look up to here. His ability to pass the ball is well respected and him as a character is very well respected too.”
