QPR hope Sandro will be fit for Spurs game

Chris Ramsey said he replaced Sandro during QPR’s defeat against Arsenal to avoid the risk of the midfielder suffering another injury.

Sandro’s latest knee problem meant he had not featured for Rangers since November before returning against the Gunners.

He went off 11 minutes into the second half and Arsenal scored twice in quick succession soon afterwards.

But head coach Ramsey felt he was right to substitute the Brazilian and is confident Sandro will be able to face his former club Tottenham on Saturday.

Ramsey said: “I’m hoping he’ll be fit. He came off more from a precaution point of view because he has a history of getting injured.

“He’s a wholehearted player who will play until he gets injured – and we need him.”

Nedum Onuoha was also taken off as a precaution after being involved in an accidental clash of heads with R’s team-mate Steven Caulker.

“He has a gash on his eye and we didn’t want to take the risk. It was a blow to the head so we have to take that precaution,” Ramsey explained.

“Clint Hill came on and slipped into it so that wasn’t really a problem.”
