QPR youngsters make winning start

QPR’s new Under-23 side got their season off to a winning start, beating Barnsley 2-0.

Both the visitors’ goals came in the first half, with Ryan Manning firing them ahead after being set up by Axel Prohouly and Dan Darbyshire’s deflected effort making it 2-0.

Former Millwall midfielder Eberechi Eze, 18, who recently joined the R’s, featured in the game.

The Under-23 format has replaced the Under-21s as part of a nationwide change made this season.
