QPR will go on the attack, Redknapp insists

Harry Redknapp has insisted that QPR will go on the attack at Wigan in Friday’s Championship play-off semi-final first leg.

Rangers will fancy their chances of reaching the final at Wembley if the tie is finely poised for the return leg at Loftus Road.

But Redknapp is adamant they will not adopt defensive tactics when the Latics have home advantage.

The Rangers boss said: “I only know one way and that’s to be positive.

“If I went there and didn’t have a go, I’d probably regret it for the rest of my life.

“If we sat back and just tried to hang in there for a 0-0 draw for 90 minutes and it didn’t work out I’d probably regret not going and having a go.

“It’s important we compete all over the park and don’t just sit back and take it on the chin for 90 minutes. We’ve got to go and give them problems.”

Wigan’s former Brentford manager Uwe Rosler, meanwhile, has suggested that QPR are under added pressure to get promoted because of the club’s spending under chairman Tony Fernandes.

There has been speculation about the possible financial repercussions for Rangers should they fail to make it back to the Premier League this year.

And Rosler, who took over at the DW Stadium in December, said: “We have everything to win and QPR have everything to lose.

“If I was the owner of QPR I would say there would be massive pressure.”
