QPR warm up for play-offs by beating Tykes

Barnsley 2 QPR 3

Yun Suk-Young scored his first goal for QPR, who ended the regular season with a victory and will play Wigan over two legs in the play-offs.

Youngsters Coll Donaldson and Michael Petrasso made their debuts for Rangers at Oakwell, where Charlie Austin scored his 100th career goal and Barnsley’s Jean-Yves Mvoto scored an own goal.

Defender Donaldson, signed from Livingston in January, was handed a starting place and Canadian winger Petrasso came on for the final quarter of an hour.

QPR, already sure of a fourth-placed finish, scored twice in the final three minutes of the first half.

Austin’s cool finish put them ahead before Kevin Doyle sent the ball into the danger zone and M’voto sliced into his own net.

Barnsley, already relegated, made a determined start to the second half and Rangers’ stand-in captain Nedum Onuoha stopped Danny Rose’s goal-bound volley.

Chris O’Grady then headed in from Dale Jennings’ cross, but the R’s hit back with a fabulous goal from Yun, who beat three men before finishing emphatically.

O’Grady scored again in injury time when he curled home from 25 yards.
