QPR want an answer from striker Remy

QPR have told Loic Remy to make a quick decision on his future following the collapse of his move to Liverpool.

Remy entered talks with the Anfield club soon after Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes asked him to resolve his future sooner rather than later.

And that message has been reinforced in the wake of Liverpool backing out of a proposed deal to sign the France striker.

Rangers are keen to avoid losing Remy, 27, close to next month’s transfer deadline, so want him to either commit to the club or make it clear he is determined to leave and is therefore unlikely to be an option for manager Harry Redknapp.

“We need to know whether he’s going to stay or not, because we can’t be losing him on transfer deadline day or something and then not have a striker,” Redknapp said.

“If he’s going to stay we need that commitment now and we need to get him going, get him fit and get him playing.”

Remy joined QPR from Marseille for £8m in January last year on the understanding it could help him secure a move to a leading English club and he would be allowed to leave for the same fee if a top-four side came in for him.

He has long been keen to join Arsenal but they have not made a firm offer, while Liverpool made an approach following their recent sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Last season Remy scored 14 goals in 27 appearances while on loan at Newcastle, who would like to sign him on a permanent basis.
