QPR v Preston player ratings

QPR went down 2-0 against Preston at Loftus Road on a hugely disappointing afternoon for the R’s. Here’s how we rated each player in the defeat.

Alex Smithies: 6

One of his least convincing displays for Rangers. Produced a couple of smart saves in the first half but was indecisive at times.

James Perch: 6

Had some decent moments, winning a number of challenges. But Preston had plenty of success on his side of the pitch.

Nedum Onuoha: 5

An unhappy afternoon for the Rangers captain, underlined by his second-half own goal.

Steven Caulker: 5

His form has slipped since the first couple of games and Rangers’ day was summed up when Caulker booted the ball into his own face when attempting an overhead kick in injury time.

Jake Bidwell: 6

Steady enough and looked to get forward.

Jordan Cousins: 5

Ineffective on the right and surely won’t be playing there for much longer given his impressive performances in the centre of midfield.

Karl Henry: 5

Generally underrated, but this was an example of why Henry attracts criticism. Off the pace and his passing was wayward.

Massimo Luongo: 6

Had a decent spell in the second half, which included a shot on goal. Generally struggled to make an impact though.

Yeni Ngbakoto; 5

A disappointing start for the French winger. Much more will be expected of him as his fitness and understanding of English football improve.

Tjaronn Chery: 7

Not at his best, but still creative in the final third, not least when creating a great chance for Conor Washington with a clever pass.

Sebastian Polter: 6

Not the best technically, but always prepared to work hard and occupy defenders. Might have done better with a second-half chance though.

Conor Washington: 6

Missed a great chance when he failed to finish after being put through by Chery. Showed energy and enthusiasm when trying to make amends, but his wait for a league goal goes on.

Nasser El Khayati: 6

Created a couple of openings after coming on. Is entitled to feel he deserves a starting place.
