QPR to appeal against Derry’s red card

QPR will appeal against Shaun Derry’s sending-off against Manchester United.

The midfielder was dismissed following a 15th-minute challenge on Ashley Young at Old Trafford, where Rangers were beaten 2-0.

Contact with Young was minimal – and the England winger was in an offside position as he looked to collect Wayne Rooney’s pass.

Rooney scored from the resulting penalty and Paul Scholes later added United’s second goal.

Rangers have confirmed they will contest Derry’s red card and are confident it will be rescinded.
