QPR set for Austin boost and double signing

QPR striker Charlie Austin looks likely to be passed fit for this weekend’s game against Sunderland.

Austin was ruled out of Sunday’s 4-0 thrashing at Tottenham with a hamstring problem but has responded well to treatment and is expected to train on Friday.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Faurlin has been sent for a precautionary scan after hurting his knee during Rangers’ League Cup defeat at Burton.

Faurlin, recently back from a second long-term knee injury, will almost certainly sit out the Sunderland game but is hoping to be given the go-ahead to train next week.

Rangers are on course to complete the signings of Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and Liverpool full-back Jack Robinson in the next 24 hours.

Robinson, 20, has agreed personal terms but is regarded as one for the future and has been lined up for a season-long loan move to Championship side Huddersfield.
