QPR could offload Sandro to China

QPR: Sandro

Sandro could be given the opportunity to move to China in the new year.

Intermediaries acting on behalf of Chinese Super League clubs have contacted QPR about a possible deal for the Brazilian midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.

Sandro, who has not made a league appearance for Rangers since last December, wants a move to the Premier League or a European club involved in the Champions League.

But a planned transfer to Sporting Lisbon fell through in the summer and QPR were unable to find an alternative buyer.

The club are desperate to offload Sandro, whose contract at Loftus Road expires next summer.

Affected by knee trouble prior to his move from Tottenham, he has made just 26 league appearances for the R’s since being signed for £6m in 2014.

With no sign of interest among European clubs, he could be given the chance to try his luck in the Far East rather than see out the final months of his current contract.

Sandro ended last season on loan at West Brom and has made two EFL Cup appearances for QPR this term, scoring against Sunderland and finding the net twice against Rochdale.

Injuries to other Rangers players meant he was on the substitutes’ bench for the last two league games, at Burton and Fulham.

The Chinese transfer window opens on 1 January and will be open until the end of February.
