QPR reject approach for Luongo

QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo

QPR have rejected an approach from MK Dons to take Massimo Luongo on loan.

The midfielder, signed from Swindon with Ben Gladwin in the summer, has not started a league match since October.

Luongo, 23, was given a starting place for Saturday’s FA Cup defeat at Nottingham Forest, which along with a brief substitute appearance against Hull on New Year’s Day is his only involvement in the first team since Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink took over as Rangers manager.

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson was therefore keen to snap him up, while reports in Luongo’s native Australia claim Middlesbrough and Glasgow Rangers are also interested.

However, Rangers want the player to stay at Loftus Road and fight for his place.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are interested in a potential deal to sign Steven Caulker on loan from QPR for the rest of the season.
