QPR move closer to Sigthorsson signing

QPR appear to have made progress in their attempt to seal the signing of Ajax striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson.

West London Sport recently revealed that Rangers were in talks to sign Sigthorsson and subsequently that they had made a £5m offer, which has since been accepted.

They have so-far been unable to agree personal terms with the 24-year-old Icelander and manager Harry Redknapp admitted that the process was “dragging on a bit”.

But Rangers have always been hopeful of eventually reaching an agreement and it now seems that a deal could be close.

They were interested in him last season but he was reluctant to play in the Championship.

Their promotion back to the top flight paved the way for a move for Sigthorsson, who has scored 24 goals in 59 league appearances for Ajax.

He arrived in Holland in 2010 when he was signed by AZ Alkmaar, and he moved to Amsterdam a year later.

Redknapp watched him in action in a match against Feyenoord earlier this year.
