QPR’s Perch to undergo knee scan

James Perch will undergo a scan on his injured knee today.

The 30-year-old was stretchered off during QPR’s 6-0 defeat against his former club Newcastle at Loftus Road.

Rangers expected to learn the extent of the injury before now but swelling around the affected area meant they have had to wait for a scan to take place. 

Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink admitted after Tuesday’s match that he was bracing himself for bad news.

He said: “I think it’s bad. Perchy isn’t the kind of player to just come off.”

Perch was deployed on the right of midfield in a much-changed QPR line-up.

Hasselbaink defended his team selection after the defeat – Rangers’ heaviest-ever home league loss.

Meanwhile, director of football Les Ferdinand has dismissed speculation that Hasselbaink could be replaced by West Brom boss Tony Pulis.
