QPR make late move for West Ham’s Jarvis

QPR have made a late attempt to sign Matt Jarvis on loan from West Ham before tonight’s transfer deadline in a move that could see Mauro Zarate return to Upton Park.

Rangers want winger Jarvis, 28, to join them for the rest of the season.

However, the deal could be scuppered if the Premier League deny West Ham permission to recall Zarate during the same transfer window they loaned him to the R’s, who would then be unable to bring in Jarvis because clubs are not permitted to have more than one player on loan from another top-flight club.

Jarvis, who won an England cap in 2011, has made 68 league appearances for West Ham since joining them from Wolves for £7.5m in 2012, but only four of them have come this season.

Zarate’s appearance as a late substitute at Burnley is his only outing for Rangers since he was brought in from the Hammers on loan last month.
