QPR linked with Leicester City target and former Portsmouth star

QPR are making a late bid to hijack Leicester City’s proposed signing of Argentina midfielder Esteban Cambiasso, the Sunday People say.

Foxes boss Nigel Pearson wants to sign the 33-year-old and recently expressed anger that news of his interest had been leaked.

And it is claimed that Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is now looking to land Cambiasso, who is a free agent after leaving Inter Milan.

Redknapp, who recently signed Chile star Mauricio Isla on loan, is also keen on Hull City’s Egyptian international Ahmed Elmohamady, again according to the People.

Wing-back Elmohamady is also said to be a target for Turkish club Besiktas.

Meanwhile, the Mail on Sunday say QPR are interested in former Portsmouth midfielder Lassana Diarra.

The 29-year-old, who played under Redknapp at Pompey and also had spells at Chelsea and Arsenal, is currently with Lokomotiv Moscow.

It is claimed that Napoli are interested but that he would prefer to return to London and could be available if Rangers agree to pay £6m and his wages, said to be £80,000 a week.
