QPR submit offer for Iceland forward Bodvarsson

QPR: Loftus Road

QPR have offered Kaiserslautern around £1m for Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and hope to sign the Iceland forward before next weekend’s Championship opener against Leeds United.

Bodvarsson, 24, featured in all five of Iceland’s matches at the recent European Championship, including their victory over England. He scored in their 2-1 win against Austria.

He only joined the Kaiserslautern in January but the Bundesliga club have indicated that he will be allowed to leave.

Rangers turned their attention to Bodvarsson after missing out on France Under-21 striker Sehrou Guirassy, who was their top transfer target this summer.

Their hopes of signing Guirassy had faded well before he recently joined Cologne from Lille.

QPR are also keen to sign at least one winger before the start of the new League campaign.

Bodvarsson can play on the flank but the R’s want him to compete with Sebastian Polter for a place up front, possibly replacing the German as target man.

Rangers are also hoping to sign Alex Pritchard on loan from Tottenham with a view to an eventual permanent move.

However, there are several Championship clubs looking to snap up the 23-year-old, who was previously on loan at Brentford.

The same applies to Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford, who is another much sought-after player QPR would like to sign.
