Ian Holloway was disappointed QPR had to settle for a point at Sunderland but insisted his team are heading in the right direction.

Aiden McGeady’s second-half equaliser hauled the home side level after Idrissa Sylla’s had opened the scoring.

Rangers boss Holloway said: “We’re all disappointed not to have won. Once again we didn’t take the chances we created. We feel like we’ve dropped two points.

“But our performances are getting better and better. Unfortunately that’s not leading to the points we deserve, so we’ve just got to dig in.

“Our identity is starting to come. I look at the chances we’ve managed to create through being positive.

“I think we’re competing much better than we did last year.”
