QPR confirm arrival of Hoddle as coach

QPR have confirmed that former England and Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle has joined the club’s coaching team.

The Hayes-born 57-year-old has accepted an offer to join boss Harry Redknapp’s backroom staff, which already includes assistant manager Kevin Bond and first-team coach Joe Jordan.

Last year Redknapp brought in another former England boss, Steve McClaren, who subsequently landed the Derby manager’s job.

The appointment of Hoddle is one of a number of additions to the management team Redknapp has been looking into ahead of the new campaign.

Hoddle, who was in charge of the national side between 1996 and 1999, made his name as a player for Tottenham and England.

He later took over as player-manager of Chelsea and spent three years at Stamford Bridge.

Hoddle’s last managerial job was at Wolves, where he resigned in 2006 after the club failed to win promotion to the top flight.

Redknapp’s contract expires at the end of the season.
