QPR boss tips Austin to grab more goals

Harry Redknapp hailed Charlie Austin after the striker scored twice against Aston Villa to lift QPR off the bottom of the Premier League.

And the Rangers boss believes last season’s top scorer can go from strength to strength in the top flight.

Redknapp declared: “He’s such a fantastic lad, coming from non-League and played for teams like Poole Town and Hungerford.

“He’s got four goals this season now and there’s no reason why he can’t now go on and get quite a decent tally.”

Struggling Villa have now lost five matches in a row and have failed to score in almost nine hours of football.

They had chances but Rangers defended well and always looked a threat going forward, with Bobby Zamora and then Eduardo Vargas setting up Austin to score.

Redknapp added: “Bobby Zamora is a handful and there were lots of good performances tonight.

“Richard Dunne and Steven Caulker were great, [Mauricio] Isla too, and Yun [Suk-Young] was excellent at left-back.

“It was a great result. We’ve been playing well – we played well against Liverpool, Stoke, Sunderland and Hull.

“We worked hard again tonight and of course it was important to get a win and get some points.”
