QPR boss Redknapp dismisses Keane link

Harry Redknapp has insisted he is not looking to take Robbie Keane to QPR on loan.

The Irish striker, currently with Los Angeles Galaxy, is potentially available for a return to the Premier League now the Major League Soccer season has ended.

And Keane, who played under Redknapp at Tottenham, was reported to be a target for the Rangers boss.

But Redknapp said: “We’ve never made an enquiry about Robbie. He’s a fantastic footballer but we haven’t made an enquiry about him.

“The first I heard of it [QPR’s supposed interest] was when I saw it in the paper.”

Redknapp also says Rangers have not made further progress in their pursuit of another ex-Spurs forward, Jermain Defoe.

They were unable to secure Defoe’s release from FC Toronto before the end of the previous transfer window and expect to sign him in January.
