QPR boss Holloway rules out Jackett return

Ian Holloway is keen to add to his QPR coaching staff but has all but ruled out a return for Kenny Jackett.

Jackett, assistant boss during much of Holloway’s first spell as Rangers manager, has resigned after just 39 days in charge at Rotherham.

But Holloway does not expect to be reunited with him at Loftus Road.

“I think he’s a manager now. He needs to be a manager and I think Kenny would tell you that himself,” Holloway said.

“He was a brilliant assistant manager but always had aspirations to be a manager and was always going to do that and always going to be a good one.”

Former QPR midfielder Marc Bircham rejoined the club as first-team coach following Holloway’s recent return as manager.

Holloway is now looking to add someone else in a similar role.

“I’m still overseeing and still thinking what I might do,” he said.

“I’ve got so much energy I’m happy to keep going myself, but deep down I know I probably need someone.

“But the analytics side is so good I can do less out there (the training ground) and more in the classroom. It takes a lot of pressure off me.”
