No approach made for Cesar, says QPR boss

Harry Redknapp says QPR have still not received any firm enquiries about Julio Cesar despite Manchester City being the latest club to be linked with the Brazil goalkeeper.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini was recently reported to be considering Cesar as a possible replacement for the out-of-form Joe Hart.

Rangers would happily offload him on a free transfer but have not found any takers for the 34-year-old despite a number of European clubs being linked with him since the end of last season.

Cesar was keen to stay in London and join Arsenal in the summer but there was no approach from the Gunners despite speculation they wanted to sign him.

But Redknapp remains hopeful that Cesar, who has not played for QPR this term, will get a move when the transfer window reopens in January.

“There’s still not really been anything at the moment,” the R’s boss told West London Sport.

“He’s still the Brazil number one and you’ve got to think there will be a big club in the world come in for him.

“If you needed a goalkeeper and were at one of the big clubs around the world you’d take him all day long, because he’s not a gamble.”
