Kenny’s improvement gives R’s hope

QPR are cautiously optimistic that goalkeeper Paddy Kenny will return to action sooner than was first expected.

Kenny’s condition appears to have improved significantly in the last few days and Rangers are hoping a follow-up scan next week will show his injury is healing fast.

The club are yet to establish the exact nature of the problem that has been causing Kenny pain in his side and upper hamstring.

Warnock is hoping for good news on Kenny next week.

An initial scan suggested he could be sidelined for up to two months, but further tests may well bring better news.

“We were told six to eight weeks and possibly an operation – that’s how bad it was originally,” said manager Neil Warnock.

“But Paddy felt good on Thursday, so you just don’t know. It’s a muscle nobody’s ever heard of that’s been affected. It’s an unusual injury.

“What we have to do now is probably scan it again next week to see what the differences in the scans are.

“That’s the way they’ll judge it, because he feels good at the moment. He’s been really bright.”
