Injured Taarabt no closer to QPR return

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has indicated that Adel Taarabt is still some way off a return to fitness.

The Moroccan was recently involved in a public fall-out with Redknapp, who accused him of refusing to train properly and being unfit.

Taarabt has been hampered by illness and an ankle problem since the start of the season and is now struggling with a groin injury.

“He’s not fit. He’s got a groin strain at the moment,” Redknapp explained.

“Hopefully he’ll come out to training and do a bit of work with the fitness coach, but he’s not fit.”

Meanwhile, Eduardo Vargas and Mauricio Isla were due to resume training with Rangers on Thursday after returning from international duty with Chile.

They should be available for this weekend’s trip to face Newcastle along with Yun Suk-Young, who has been away with the South Korea squad.

“Yun’s been away and he’s okay and hopefully the two Chilean boys will be okay too,” said Redknapp

“Hopefully the two Chileans will come out and join us today. The other lads have been training well and are in good spirits.”
