Holloway praises players after QPR defeat

Ian Holloway praised his players after the defeat at Blackburn but admitted the result has dragged QPR back into trouble near the bottom of the table.

Sam Gallagher’s injury-time goal for Rovers, who occupy the final relegation place, moved them to within six points of Holloway’s Rangers side.

And it came after Rangers were denied a perfectly good goal when the ball was adjudged to have not crossed the line after Conor Washington’s header had bounced down off the bar. Video replays showed it had.

“I honestly felt we played really well,” said R’s boss Holloway.

“We started really brightly, didn’t score and then we faded a bit. But, on the whole, that’s as good as my team’s played for me in the time I’ve been back here.

“Unfortunately, we’re left bemoaning a decision where we scored and it wasn’t given. It’s very difficult to take.

“That pulls us back to them. We could have kept a decent gap between us and them, but they’ve clawed us back.

“But I was really pleased with the effort my players gave me.”
