Hasselbaink criticises referee after QPR’s defeat at Barnsley
Livid boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink launched a scathing attack on referee Darren Bond after QPR’s 3-2 defeat at Barnsley.
Rangers led 2-1 after penalties from Tjaronn Chery and Sebastian Polter, before Conor Hourihane levelled with a free-kick and Josh Scowen scored a last-minute winner for the Yorkshire side.
Hasselbaink was furious with the decision to award the free-kick which led to the equaliser.
And the raging Dutchman argued that the challenge by Massimo Luongo on Hourihane was no different to one by Stefan Payne on R’s defender Grant Hall in the build up to the winning goal.

I am a big fan of Jimmy Floyd and fancied him for BarnsleyManager before we signed Lee Johnson. I was, however, very dissapointed at his reaction to the QPR defeat on Wednesday night. QPR were never in the game in the first 45 minutes apart from a free kick that hit the cross bar.I lost count of the number of fouls they committed in the first half. Barnsley were on fireand totallydominated – ask the 500 QPR fans that attended the game. They then got back into the game through two penalties which were uncontested. QPR continued to commit niggling fouls, some punished, some unpunished and collected a fair number of yellows as did Barnsley. The incidents Jimmy moaned about happen in every game and I thought the feferee interpreted them fairly – he ought, for example, to have given us a penalty, but didn’t. I have been watching football for more than 50 years and that was not the worst refereeing I have see by a long way. Think in this case, Jimmy thought the best form of defence was to attack the referree. His team had a bad night at the office – get over it and stop blaming others.
