Petrasso given new QPR contract

QPR have given winger Michael Petrasso a one-year contract extension.

The 21-year-old Canadian’s deal was due to expire at the end of the season.

“I’ve been at QPR since I was 16 and I love the club, so I am really happy to be staying here for longer,” he told Rangers’ website.

“We’ve seen a lot of youngsters get the chance to play for the first team and that’s a great motivation for all of us.”

Petrasso has made 10 first-team appearances for the R’s, with all but one of them coming in the league.

He has not featured this season because of a thigh injury he picked up days before the start of the campaign.

“The manager has a genuine interest in developing his players, which is a great thing to have at the club because it encourages players to stay,” Petrasso added.

“He likes to give youngsters the chance – and you can see with the players this season that they have made the most of those opportunities and earned the right to play for the first team.

“I am focused on getting back fit and then earning a regular spot in the first team. That has to be my aim now. Playing for QPR is my goal.”
