Traore criticised after QPR’s loss at Arsenal

Harry Redknapp criticised Armand Traore after QPR’s 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.

Playing against his former club, Traore was given a chance to impress after Yun Suk-Young was sidelined with an ankle injury.

Manager Redknapp had called for Traore to “step up to the plate” in Yun’s absence and suggested Rangers would look to bring in a left-back if the Senegal international failed to deliver.

And Traore performed poorly before being taken off at the Emirates Stadium. He gave away an early penalty by fouling Alexis Sanchez and later allowed him to nip in and score the opening goal.

Redknapp said: “It was a needless penalty to give away and then we defended badly for the first goal. It was atrocious defending from us.

“He just didn’t defend for the first goal. When you’re defending you can’t let somebody run in behind you.”

Rangers, beaten in all 10 of their away matches this season, now face two vital home games.

They face fellow strugglers Crystal Palace in a derby at Loftus Road on Sunday and then Swansea City on New Year’s Day.
