QPR draw with Atalanta in final friendly

Tottenham defender Grant Hall featured for QPR as they ended their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw against Italian side Atalanta in a friendly at Loftus Road.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas scored a 64th-minute equaliser for Rangers after being teed up by fellow summer signing Sebastian Polter.

QPR’s other new arrivals, including Tjaronn Chery – who hit the post – and James Perch, also featured.

Neither Charlie Austin nor Leroy Fer were included in the matchday squad.

Austin, who has been linked with the likes of Newcastle, and Fer, who is reportedly a target for Sunderland, have both been carrying minor injuries. Rangers say neither player was fit enough to be involved.

Hall, a 23-year-old centre-back who was on loan at Blackpool last season and has also had loan spells at Birmingham and Swindon, is with the R’s on trial.

He came on as a half-time substitute with Atalanta ahead courtesy of a blistering volley from near the edge of the penalty area by Jasmin Kurtic.

Chery almost levelled before the break when his free-kick struck the woodwork.

The equaliser eventually arrived when Emmanuel-Thomas scored with a deflected shot soon after coming on as a substitute.

QPR: Green, Perch, Onuoha (Furlong 71), Hill, Kpekawa (Hall 45), Phillips (Hoilett 67), Chery (Doughty 65), Faurlin (Diakite 60),  Gladwin (Emmanuel-Thomas 60), Luongo (Henry 55), Polter (Blackwood 65).
