Simpson and Green could both play at Boro

QPR goalkeeper Rob Green looks likely to be passed fit for Saturday’s game at Middlesbrough – and Danny Simpson could also feature.

Full-back Simpson has handed Rangers a much-needed lift by resuming full training after two months on the sidelines with a back problem.

He had been earmarked for a return against Wigan next week but is now being considered for this weekend’s match, which Richard Dunne will miss through suspension after being sent off against Sheffield Wednesday.

Green went off against Yeovil.

Tuesday’s 3-0 loss at Hillsborough was QPR’s fifth defeat in eight matches and leaves them all but out of the race for automatic promotion.

But Simpson’s return is a timely boost and the club believe top scorer Charlie Austin will play again this season following shoulder surgery.

Green sustained a heavy knock to the ribs during Saturday’s home win against Yeovil and missed the trip to Sheffield but has been cleared to return to training.

Jermaine Jenas is also likely to be available for the Boro game following a hamstring problem.
