Ramsey confirms West Ham want QPR keeper Green

Chris Ramsey has confirmed West Ham want to re-sign Rob Green – but says he is hopeful the goalkeeper will stay at QPR.

Rangers recently received an approach from the Hammers for Green, who spent six years at Upton Park before moving to west London in 2012.

“They do want him, but no deal has been cut. Nothing firm has been agreed,” Ramsey said.

“As far as we’re concerned he’s going to be at the club – and he’s performing really well.

“As long as the transfer window’s open everything [transfer negotiations]  is ongoing. But I hope he doesn’t go and as far as I know he’s staying at QPR.”

And Ramsey says he is no less reluctant to lose Green, 35, now keeper Alex Smithies has arrived at Loftus Road.

“We’ve signed a good keeper now that I think will push him and is a fantastic keeper as well, but we do need Rob,” the Rangers head coach insisted.
