Rangers to table bid for keeper Bentley

QPR plan to table a bid for Southend United goalkeeper Dan Bentley.

Bentley, 22, came to the attention of higher-division clubs as his impressive displays helped Southend win promotion from League Two last season.

He is one of a number of keepers Rangers identified as a possible signing after being made aware that Crystal Palace were looking to sign Alex McCarthy.

With McCarthy having recently left Loftus Road to join the Eagles, Rangers are keen to bring in a replacement before the start of the new season.

And QPR head coach Chris Ramsey is hoping that a deal can be agreed prior to this weekend’s Championship opener against Charlton.

“He’s one on our list – there may be a few other players on our list,” Ramsey said.

“It’s just about doing the deals in time for next Saturday. I’m not sure if that one’s going to happen before next Saturday.”
