Midfielder Fer ‘will be a top player for QPR’

Harry Redknapp is convinced summer signing Leroy Fer will make a major impact at QPR.

The Dutch midfielder, signed from Norwich in August, was outstanding in Rangers’ win against Sunderland but has been less effective in their away matches.

Redknapp previously suggested Fer was not fully fit, but more recently the manager has been hugely impressed and has also taken heart from Niko Kranjcar’s displays during the team’s poor start to the season.

“I think Fer’s going to be a top player for us. I’m delighted with the progress he’s making,” said Redknapp.

“And Niko Kranjcar looks a lot fitter this year.  We’ve got to build on them. I think we’ll be okay.”

Rangers are in the bottom three, having lost all their away games this term, but Redknapp insists he remains confident they will climb away from danger.

“It’s difficult and we’ve not got a lot of attacking options, but we’ve got some good players here,” he said.

“I do still think we’ll be okay once everyone gets up to speed.”
