Kranjcar illness adds to QPR’s worries

Niko Kranjcar is struggling to overcome a virus ahead of QPR’s game against Aston Villa.

The Croatian is a doubt for Monday’s match, potentially increasing Rangers’ problems in midfield.

They are already without Joey Barton and Jordon Mutch and must hope Sandro overcomes a groin injury in time to play.

Kranjcar has had painkilling injections in a toe injury in order to be available, but could now miss out in any case.

He is the latest Rangers player to be affected by illness in the last week or so.

A number of squad members have been feeling unwell and goalkeeper Rob Green missed last weekend’s defeat against Liverpool after going down with tonsillitis.

And Adel Taarabt has also complained of a sore throat since returning to training following his public fall-out with manager Harry Redknapp.
