QPR assess Faurlin and await news on Austin

QPR are assessing an injury suffered by Alejandro Faurlin in the game at Burton and expect to receive news on Charlie Austin’s condition on Thursday.

Popular midfielder Faurlin, recently back after a second long-term knee injury, went off during the second half of Rangers’ Capital One Cup second-round defeat.

“I’m not sure now bad his injury is at the moment. We’ll have to see,” said manager Harry Redknapp, who was highly critical of the team’s performance.

Striker Austin, meanwhile, missed Sunday’s 4-0 thrashing at Tottenham with a hamstring problem and is a doubt for this weekend’s game at home to Sunderland.

Redknapp said: “We’ll find out [about Austin] tomorrow. I’m not sure if he’ll be fit for the weekend.”
