Penalty decision angers boss Redknapp

QPR boss Harry Redknapp insisted his side should have been awarded a last-minute penalty in their 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.

The Gunners, who had Olivier Giroud sent off in the second half, held on after Charlie Austin’s 78th-minute penalty.

But Rangers felt they should have been given another spot kick for a challenge on Bobby Zamora by Kieran Gibbs.

“Bobby couldn’t believe he didn’t get the decision,” Redknapp said.

“It was a penalty, no doubt about that. He got dragged down for sure.”

Redknapp was also unhappy that Rangers conceded a second goal after Arsenal were reduced to 10 men following Giroud’s dismissal.

The result means the R’s have lost all 10 of their away matches this season, with nine of those defeats coming in the league.

“I wasn’t pleased with us in the first half – I felt Arsenal dominated it,” Redknapp admitted.

“When they went down to 10 men we had to make sure we had a real opportunity.

“It wasn’t until it was 2-1 that we really started to take the game to them. I felt we weren’t positive enough when it was 1-0 against 10 men.

“To go two down was a massive blow. It was a good opportunity against 10 men for us to pick up a point.”
