QPR miss out as Sidwell joins Stoke

QPR have missed out on the signing of Steve Sidwell, who has agreed a two-year deal at Stoke.

The midfielder, 31, a free agent after being released by Fulham, was one of Rangers manager Harry Redknapp’s transfer targets.

But Stoke’s former Whites boss Mark Hughes, who brought Sidwell to Craven Cottage from Aston Villa in 2011, persuaded him to join the Potters.

He made 92 league appearances for Fulham, scoring 14 goals – seven of them coming last season.
