QPR’s Vargas set to undergo knee scan

Eduardo Vargas is set to undergo a scan after suffering a knee injury during QPR’s 4-1 win at West Brom.

The Chilean was restored to the Rangers starting line-up and scored their opening goal at The Hawthorns, where the victory boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation.

But Vargas went off after half an hour and Rangers, who face Aston Villa on Tuesday, must wait to discover the extent of his injury.

“He got his studs caught in the turf and went down on his knee very awkwardly,” said head coach Chris Ramsey.

“He tried to stay on, which showed me what he’s all about, but he had to come off.”
