Defender Motta still training with QPR

Marco Motta will continue to train with QPR for the time being despite being told he will not get the contract he wanted following a recent trial.

Rangers discussed a short-term deal for the 29-year-old, believing he could offer cover at right-back until the end of the season, but no agreement was reached.

Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has subsequently told Motta there is no prospect of him being signed but that he can train with the R’s for the next week or so in order to keep working on his fitness.

Motta, formerly of Juventus, has been without a club since leaving Watford at the end of last season after a short spell with the Hornets.

His representatives still believe he could yet sign for QPR, and Italian media reports have suggested that Motta might still secure a contract at Loftus Road.
