Palace may miss out on Austin – chairman

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has told TalkSport his club are big admirers of QPR striker Charlie Austin – but conceded they may not be a big enough draw to sign him.

Austin, 26, has been linked with several Premier League clubs since Rangers relegation, with Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham all said to be interested.

However, Leicester City are the only club to have made a bid for him so far.

Parish admitted Palace, who are set to sign keeper Alex McCarthy from QPR, would be keen on a move for Austin.

However, he added: “Charlie is definitely a player we admire but there are lots of clubs interested in him.

“There’s a good chance he will go beyond us, so to speak.”
